Tribute from Asif

I simply can’t express how saddened and devastated I am by the loss of my life long friend, and I don’t think I ever will. Personally, I’d like to celebrate his life and remember the many years we shared together from our school days right up to us both being happy middle aged fathers! I am sure this Website will grow and become a permanent Memorial for his family and friends to look back at his life with great fondness and happiness. I can’t believe it has been over 33 years since I first met Tirumal at Wandsworth School, and certainly can’t believe how he transformed from a geeky school boy, who would rather spend time after school sticking punch cards in a contraption bigger than my house (think they were called computers) than having a kick about or chasing girls at the nearby Girls School, to an astute and successful businessman, a wonderful father and husband and a generous and genuine friend to all. I had the great fortune to grow up alongside him and together we went through the emotional rollercoaster ride that is called life! During these 33 years, hardly a week went by when we didn’t meet up or talk – I will really miss these sessions. Over the coming months I intend to post stories and anecdotes that truly reflect the kind of person Tirumal was to me - which a million adjectives cannot do. Amongst the memories will be: The full story of “The Flat” (which puts “The Apartment” by Billy Wilder to shame) – well perhaps not the full story! The wayward University years, where he finally learned to chill and where he met some long standing and trusted friends that he maintained over the years His first post-graduate job at Gould (making Oscilloscopes) – where of course he met his business partner and friend Gianni – leading to his business empire. How he met and married Latha, which proved to be a wonderful milestone in his life And of course his children, Jahnu and Sanju who completely transformed his life – he even started taking a healthy interest in sport! Tirumal and sport were not words you would use in the same sentence! Trust me it will make compelling reading.
